I’m writing as your constituent to ask you to attend Second Reading of the Infants, Parents and Carers Bill, known as the Babies Bill, on Friday 4 September, and to support it.
The Bill aims to give information and support during pregnancy and the first two years of life a stronger and more enduring legal foundation. It would strengthen support already being delivered through Best Start Family Hubs and the Healthy Babies Programme, rather than create a new system or introduce new services.
Pregnancy to age two is a period of rapid development, when important foundations are laid for a child’s health, relationships, language and future learning. Parents and carers should be able to access trusted support early, before difficulties become crises.
Please could you confirm whether you intend to attend Second Reading and support the Bill?
Babies cannot speak for themselves in Parliament. I am asking you to speak up for them.
Every baby deserves the best start in life.
