Maria Restrepo
International ENGAGEMENT officer
Maria is a researcher and journalist who bridges academia and storytelling to illuminate complex socio-political challenges. After pursuing an MSc in Conflict Studies and Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, she brings a multilingual and multicultural approach rooted in her specialised training in journalism.
As a journalist in Colombia, she reported extensively on Venezuela's migration crisis, managed databases on human rights violations, and co-developed an innovative electoral survey model.
In international engagement, Maria leverages her cross-cultural expertise to connect diverse contexts, particularly with Norway, the UAE, and South Africa - three countries at different stages of addressing critical developmental challenges. Her data-driven approach transforms complex political realities into compelling narratives that inform public discourse and policy development across borders.
Drawing from her binational perspective, Maria is passionate about using evidence-based insights to foster understanding of contemporary political forces while making complex realities accessible to diverse audiences.
