Stefan Stoyanov

HEAD OF ADVOCACY

Appointed as the Foundation’s first Head of Advocacy in September 2026, Stefan brings more than 15 years’ experience in children’s rights, humanitarian response and international development. He has worked for Save the Children, UNICEF, HelpAge International, Terre des Hommes and World Vision in the UK, Palestine, Ukraine, Cambodia and Laos. In the UK he has worked with MPs at Westminster and MSPs at Holyrood for ECPAT UK, the NSPCC and Scotland’s Children and Young People’s Commissioner, helping to win changes to the law.

Stefan’s advocacy began in Bulgaria, campaigning to close large children’s institutions and keep families together. He went on to support care reform organisations at the Martin James Foundation. He holds an MSc in European Social Policy from the London School of Economics.

Stefan was drawn to the Foundation by what he saw in Bulgaria: babies growing up without one consistent, loving carer, and the effects lasting for years. His focus is on getting the evidence on the first 1,001 days in front of the people who set budgets and write laws, in the UK and internationally.
